Our Sustainovation Group Roundtable featured guest speaker IT and sustainability expert Michael Cheng, President of Golden Privet. During the breakfast discussion, Cheng discussed how IT departments and data centers consume large amounts of energy that go relatively unnoticed. The concept of “green IT” is consistent with all forms of an organization’s sustainability practices, from reducing its carbon footprint, to saving money, and helping the planet. Cheng’s overview also detailed how new green IT is not only good for business but can energize sustainability efforts. Cheng also offered helpful helps for making your data center more sustainable. For instance, balance the workload globally, relocate the center to areas with cheaper utility rates, and utilize an efficient electrical distribution system. The Haig Barrett Sustainovation Group offers its Roundtable Breakfasts every other month.
